Ilona B. Conway, 82, of Dunmore, passed away at Geisinger – Community Medical Center on August 1, 2025.
Born November 4, 1942, in Scranton, she was the beloved daughter of the late Frank Krupski and Helen Vilogi Krupski. A proud lifelong resident, Ilona was a cherished member of the Hibernian Ladies Auxiliary of Scranton and a beloved presence in her community.
She was a devoted wife to the late Paul M. Conway, who preceded her in death in 1992, and a loving sister to the late June Nagy. Ilona spent many years working at the local dry cleaners, where she built lasting friendships and earned the respect of those she served.
To those who knew her, Ilona was a warm and generous soul. She found joy in spending time with friends, dining out, and attending Broadway shows in Scranton. Her radiant spirit and easy laughter will be remembered fondly.
She is survived by her daughters Susan and husband Scott of Dunmore, and Mary Eileen and husband Donald of Moosic; sons Paul and wife Lisa of Elmhurst, Francis and Krista Rossi of Dunmore, and Michael and wife Eleanor of Dunmore; eight grandsons, David, Michael and Paul Harris; Matthew, Joshua and Jacob Sawka; Patrick Conway and James Conway; one cherished granddaughter, Miss Molly Sawka; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Ilona’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering strength. Her absence leaves a deep void, but her spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday at 10AM at Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Dunmore, Interment will be held in Cathedral Cemetery Scranton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 8:30 to 9:30.
