Irwin M. Gordon, 79, Dunmore and formerly of Rochester, NY died Sunday morning in the Regional Hospital of Scranton. He and his wife the former Pamela Scartelli had been married for 50 years.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia he was the son of the late Harry and Dorothy Sadofsky Gordon. Irwin served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and had been employed at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY for over 30 years.
A loving and compassionate husband, father, and Papa, Irwin treasured spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a family man who was an excellent story and joke teller.
His family wishes to express their sincerest thanks and appreciation for the love and care shown to Irwin by the nurses and staff at the Gino Merli Veteran Center during his stay with them the past five years as well as the nurses and staff at Regional Hospital of Scranton.
Also surviving are a son David and his wife Leah, Franklin, TN, two daughters, Julie Gordon, Rochester, NY, and Stacey York and her husband Joshua, Cleveland, TN, a sister, Joanne Gordon and her husband Gordy, Marrieta, CA, two brothers, Max Gordon and his wife Vicki, Las Vegas, NV, and Michael Gordon and his wife Michelle, Wildomar, CA, eight grandchildren, Matthew, Hannah, and Christopher Gordon, Buffalo, NY, Elijah and Anyah Appleberry, Rochester, NY, Samuel and Eli York, Cleveland, TN, and Benjamin Gordon, Franklin, TN, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service with full military honors will be held Thursday at 6PM in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore. Social distancing guidelines will be observed and mandatory for attendance.
