James J. Miegoc

July 26, 1951 ~ October 16, 2020 (age 69) 69 Years Old

James Miegoc Obituary

October 16, 2020 following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family at Allied Hospice, the Lord welcomed James J. Miegoc to Heaven with the words, “Well done Jim, you fought the good fight and finished the race.”

Born July 26, 1951 in Scranton, PA the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Dever) Miegoc. He attended Girard College, Philadelphia, PA, graduated Central High School in 1969 and attended Keystone Jr. College.

After employment in various positions in the Propane fuel industry he went on to obtain his certification as a Nurse's Aide; a title he was most proud of. Jim was employed at the Gino Merli Veterans Center in Scranton as well as served as a private duty CNA for various families over several years.

His passion for baking his specialty dessert; Cherry Chocolate Almond Cheesecake was second to none as was his love for Carole King music. Jim was an avid NY Yankee fan and held an ardor for golf especially watching the Masters.

Surviving is his sister Mary Anne (Miegoc) Hlyniansky, Middletown, DE, brother Joseph J. J. Miegoc, Carbondale, sister Angela (Edward) Carney, Lake Wales, FL; a niece Mary Jo Miegoc and nephew Joseph Miegoc; a cousin, John M. Cuff (Janet), Herndon, VA. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Walter Hlyniansky.

Special mention to his great friends Lisa Walters, Casey Walters, Gerry Simpson, Michele Barney, and his dog, KELLY.

Mass of celebration will be held Wednesday, October 28th 9:30 a.m. in St. Peter’s Cathedral, Scranton.

Due to Covid-19, attendance is limited to 70 visitors.

Private inurnment at Cathedral Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held in July, 2021.
