Jeanne Guzzi Thorne

Jeanne Guzzi Thorne, 78, Old Forge passed from this earth at home Tuesday surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward P. Thorne on July 6, 2018.

Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Dominick “Traveler” and Theda Johns Guzzi.

Jeanne was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge, and a 1964 graduate of Old Forge High School.

Jeanne was a loving, devoted and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin and friend, who truly cared about all. She was an outstanding homemaker, who enjoyed bowling at one time and was a pet lover, especially to her dogs Pudgy, Chipper, Tootsie and Isabella. Even as a child she was never without a dog to love and care for.

Jeanne was a devoted football fan, especially the Old Forge Blue Devils. She also enjoyed shopping on the QVC network and watching the Food Network. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving is a daughter, Dr. Joanne Thorne-Richberg and husband Josef, Old Forge; a son, Marc E. Thorne and wife Melissa, Deland, FL; grandson Joshua Richberg, Old Forge; cousins and an aunt.

Jeanne was also preceded in death by her sister Joanne Guzzi, and a brother Dominic Guzzi.

A Mass of Christian Burial with be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge.

Entombment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

Family and friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of mass.
