Jennie Amendolaro Obituary

Jennie M. Amendolaro, 94, Roaring Brook Township, died Tuesday morning at her home. She and her husband Pasquale had celebrated 70 years of marriage on November 6th.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Biagio and Mary Domenico Sottile and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore. Jennie was a graduate of West Scranton High School and then together with her husband were the original owners of Gold Crown Pizza in Dunmore and Hamlin Beer Distributing in Hamlin. She retired from R.H. Donnelly where she worked alongside her daughter.

Jennie was a loving, kind, gentle, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be best remembered as an outstanding cook, and excellent baker. Her door was always open to family and friends and there was always enough to share when someone may stop in.

Her family wishes to thank Rev. David Cappelloni, Drs. Thomas Minora and Patrick Connors and their staffs, along with the Allied Hospice Team, and finally her special angels: Jennifer Kuchwara, Bruce Amendolaro, and Jill Mathewson for their support, care, and compassion throughout.

Also surviving are a son, Sylvester Amendolaro, a daughter, Mary Jo Amendolaro, her “Other Daughter, Angela Scrimalli, five grandchildren, Joanne Amendolaro and her husband Frank Drexler, Michael, Nikki, Victor, and Isabella Amendolaro, four great grandchildren, Devin, Alexa, Gia Bella, and Bentley, two brothers-in-law, Joseph “King Joe” Amendolaro and his wife Annette “Tootsie”, and Vito Amendolaro, her “Dolly Sister” Angie Gyza, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Jones.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street in Dunmore. Entombment in Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday at the funeral home from 4PM-7PM.
