JoAnn M. Chiappini, 72, of Scranton, passed away Thursday at home.
Raised in Scranton and on Army bases across the country, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Cipriano) Ardoline. She graduated from Scranton Technical High School and attended Dunmore High School. JoAnn worked as a sales manager for Entenmann’s, served for many years as Secretary of the Auxiliary of VFW Post 3474, was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and faithfully attending the St. Ann’s Novena every year.
She enjoyed time with friends at Honeychilds’ , loved drawing, coloring, and painting ceramics, and cherished her daily phone calls with family and friends—especially with Aunt Ellen & Karen. She attended both Scranton Tech and Dunmore High School reunions and supported many children through Children International sponsorships. Her greatest loves and joys were her grandsons and time spent with Kate Marchelitis and family.
Surviving is her son, Alexander Chiappini; grandsons Giovanni and Vincenzo; sisters Donna Ardoline and Phyllis Wentline and husband John; nephews Shawn Antidormi and Jeremy Wentline; and her niece and nephew on her former husband’s side, Shawna (Sandy) Perry and David Sandy. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her nephew Jonathon Wentline.
The funeral will be Saturday from Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Anthony and Rocco Parish, 303 Smith St., Dunmore.
Calling hours: Friday, 5–7 p.m. at the funeral home
