JoAnn Merrigan, 72, Taylor, died Thursday in Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. She and her husband, Richard Merrigan, celebrated 51 years of marriage this past June 3rd.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late James Joseph and Mary Bogaski Keller, she was a graduate of West Scranton High School Class of 1972, and prior to retirement, she had been employed by Haddon Craftsman. JoAnn loved and cherished her family, as well as her cats.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by a daughter Lori DePalma and husband Guy, Archbald; son Richard Merrigan, Jr. and wife Debbie, Taylor; grandchildren Tyler and Taylor Merrigan, and Olivia, Cayleigh, and Seth DePalma; great-grandchild Averie Welsch; her sister Suzanne Pierson and husband Harry, Scranton; her brother Charles Keller and wife Ella, Poland; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her sister MaryLou Krauss, and brothers James and Albert Keller.
Her family wishes to thank Regional Hospital ICU, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and all the nurses at Allied Hospice, for the care and compassion given to JoAnn.
The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Basilica of St. Ann, 1233 St. Ann St., West Scranton. All those attending are asked to go directly to the church.
