John “Poochy” Capoccia, 29, of Dunmore, passed away on Tuesday at home with his family.
Born October 25, 1990 in Scranton, John was an extremely strong, charismatic, courageous, and unique individual who touched the hearts of many. He was the son of Richard F. Capoccia, Dunmore, and the late former Mary Kinney. He was a 2009 graduate of Dunmore High School where he was a member of the marching band and theater group, and later went on to attend Penn State Worthington. John was a huge fan of gaming, having attended the annual MAGfest five times with his close group of friends, and he loved his Friday night game nights at the home of Ian and Nikki Gerrity. He also enjoyed archery and went skydiving twice.
Throughout his entire illness which spanned over many years and a period of remission, he never once complained, and was a true example of bravery. The impact of his life on those whom he loved cannot be described in so few words. He will be dearly loved and missed by everyone who knew him.
Also surviving are his brothers, RJ and fiancée Ashley Kilmer, Nicholson, and Christopher, Dunmore; his niece and nephew, Lainey and Colton (Bubba); aunts, uncles, cousins, and his girlfriend, Melissa Chemchick, Scranton.
He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Stella Capoccia, and Robert and Felicia Kinney.
A graveside service will be held Friday at noon in Dunmore Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
