John N. Petrovsky Jr., 62, of Jefferson Twp., passed away Monday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Surviving is his former wife and best friend, Joyce Gyomory-Petrovsky.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late John N. Sr. and Mary Ann Dileo. He was a graduate of North Pocono High School, class of 1977, and of Marywood University. He had a bachelor’s degree in music education.
His love for music lead to performing in several bands and teaching locally. He was known as an avid fisherman and previous owner of ‘Johnny’s Pond,’ a fishing and outdoor website. His most memorable experiences included playing the trumpet at the Christmas Eve midnight Mass, salmon fishing trips to Oswego, New York, spending time with his granddaughter, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. He continued to enjoy designing and building custom fishing rods. He enjoyed family gatherings and will be remembered for his sense of humor and quick wit.
Also surviving are daughters, Jennifer Rose Yasinskas and husband, Joseph, Olyphant; Lynette Martin and husband, Doug, Baltimore County, Md.; Nicole Donahue and husband, Sean, Moscow; a granddaughter, Jessica Olivia Yasinskas; a sister, Connie Jackson and partner, Michael, Florida; a brother, Michael Petrovsky, Colorado; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held at the convivence of the family.
