John Joseph Yantorn, 69, Dunmore, died Saturday at home. He and his wife, the former Linda A. Bartolomei, would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Oct. 24.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Churmblo Yantorn. John was a 1970 graduate of Dunmore High School and also graduated from Lackawanna Jr. College. He was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore, and the Dunmore-Rome Club.
John had been associated in the operation of the former Yantorn's Restaurant, Dunmore, and "Props," also formerly located in Dunmore, with his late parents. John enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and New York City and also going to Pocono Downs. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and the Kentucky Derby. He was fond of his two beloved furry friends, cats Dino and Chester. He enjoyed fine dining with his wife, cousins and friends and was a devoted husband and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his wife he is survived by an aunt, Susan McGuire and cousins.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 East Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 208 Smith St., Dunmore. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Dunmore, at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call Tuesday at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m.
