John J. Hartridge Obituary

John J. Hartridge, 64, of Dunmore, died Monday in Tulip Special Care in Philadelphia.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, the former Judi A. Perry, B.S.R.N, in 2007.

Born in Scranton, son of the late John G. and Rose Torrisi Hartridge, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and went on the obtain his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Scranton.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an accountant with the Scranton School District and had also been a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Dunmore. 

John was a simple man whose greatest joy was his son, John Peter, and the times they spent together.  He was a loving and supportive father who encouraged him throughout all of his endeavors throughout life. In tribute to his cherished late wife, John was deeply involved in the Judi H. Rock On organization, which over a period of seven years would host fundraising events with all proceeds going to the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute. Being a former athlete himself, he was an avid sports fan, with his favorite teams being the New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, and Penn State Football. 

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to John’s cousin, Dana D’Angelo Morris, for all of her care and support throughout his illness, as well as all of the prayers and love from family and friends.  A special thank you also goes out to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Regional Hospital Intensive Care Unit in Scranton for their kind attention to all of John’s needs during his initial illness.

Surviving is his son, John Peter Hartridge of Dunmore; his sister Sharon Bauer and husband Chip of Scranton; nieces Alyssa Bauer and companion Zachary, and Paige Butkiewicz and husband Joe; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his companion Dawn Lloyd of Lititz, PA.

He was also preceded in death by his parents-in-law Peter and Peggy Labelle Perry.

The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut St., Scranton.  Interment to follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore. 

Family and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m.
