Jonathan Sever Moe, 78, of Scranton, passed away Saturday evening at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. Surviving is his wife, the former Patricia Maglio. The couple had been married for 45 years.
Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he was the son of the late Gordon Kenneth and Janet Foster Moe. He was a graduate of Syracuse University and received his master’s degree in counseling from the University of Scranton. Prior to retirement, he was a case worker for Scranton Counseling Center for over 40 years. He was a United States Army veteran and served during Vietnam.
He enjoyed golfing, hanging with his friends at the VFW and Roosevelt Beer Garden. He was an animal lover, Dodger and Syracuse fan, a Civil War buff and listening to classical music. He will sadly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Also surviving are daughters, Terri Unger and husband, William, Throop; Rachel Moe and companion, Aubrey Dale Drinkard Jr., Tennessee; sons, Justin Moe and wife, Kristin Rosso, Easton; and Gordon Moe and wife, Brittany, Dunmore; grandchildren, Tia Coyer, Sadie and Spencer Moe; a sister, Sally Moe and husband, Steve, Florida; and brother, Eric Moe and wife, Debbie, New York.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Melanie Rich; and brothers, Chris and Bruce Moe.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore.
Interment is private at the convenience of the family.
