Joseph T. Lucas, Sr., passed away Sunday morning at Geisinger-Community Medical Center in Scranton. Surviving is his wife, the former Christine Gallucci. The couple would have celebrated 63 years of marriage on June 20th.
Born in the Pine Brook section of Scranton, he was the son of the late Stephen and Mary (Zsimovan) Lucas and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School’s Class of 1953. Prior to retirement, he was a manager at the former Scranton Tobacco Company.
Joe was a loving and devoted husband to his wife and was a proud father and grandfather. His family meant everything to him. He was also dedicated and a caregiver to his great aunts. Joe was a humble man with a great sense of humor and quick wit. He was charismatic, outgoing, and an avid fisherman and bowler scoring multiple perfect games. Joe enjoyed going to parties and hosting holiday gatherings. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and continue to love him.
Also surviving is a daughter, Linda Lee Lucas-Hunt and husband Stephen, Hershey, PA., Sons; Joseph T. Lucas, Jr. and wife Donna and Jeffrey C. Lucas, all of Dunmore. Grandchildren, Nicolette Lucas, Cassandra Lucas, Anita Lucas, Sophia Lucas, Joseph T. Lucas, III and twins, Evan and Ian Hunt. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister, MaryAnn Malos; a brother, John Lucas; Great-Great-Aunt Mary MIller and Great-Great Uncle George Miller and Great-Aunt Betty Zsimovan.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St. Dunmore with a mass at 9:30am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St. Dunmore.
Interment is private at the convenience of the family.
Friends may pay their respects on Friday from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
