Joseph A. Roth, Jr., 63, Scranton, died Sunday at Regional Hospital of Scranton.
Born in Scranton, son of Nina Scartelli Roth, Scranton, and the late Joseph A. Roth Sr., he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Prior to retirement had been employed by Scartelli Construction and was a member of the local Local #130 Laborer’s International Union. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. He loved spending summers at the beach. Joseph had a big presence and personality—if you knew him, you had a nickname and an inside joke. Every day you could find him swimming at the YMCA. A boxing enthusiast, he became involved with the USA Boxing organization. He was the best dad who did absolutely everything for his children, and even their cats.
Also surviving are his mother, Nina Roth, Scranton; daughters, Lindsay Roth, Scranton, and Allie Roth of Jefferson Twp.; son Joseph Roth III, Jefferson Twp.; his former wife and friend, Linda Roth, Jefferson Twp; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A blessing service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Savino Traditional Funerals and Cremation Care, 157 S. Main Ave., West Scranton, Carl J. Savino, Jr., Supervisor. Friends may call Friday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst, Twp.
