It is with a heavy heart full of love that I announce the passing of my amazing husband Joe Belmore, 74, of Dunmore. Joe died Sunday at Temple University Hospital.
Born November 5, 1949, in Fall River, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Betty Santos Belmore and Joseph E. Belmore. Joe's childhood was spent following his father's naval assignments throughout the country. At 18, Joe enlisted in the US Navy and served his country for four years during the Vietnam War on the flight deck of the USS Dubuque and at Fallon Naval Air Station. He was a proud veteran and a life member of the VFW Post 3474 and belonged to the American Legion Post 665. Joe was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #504, Moscow, PA. After his naval service, Joe had a multitude of jobs. The most recent and most loved and enjoyed was that of head landscape engineer at his home. Nothing gave him more pleasure than working in his yard and sitting on his deck enjoying the fruits of his labor. Before retirement, he worked as a manager at RCA Thompson Electronic and Gertrude Hawk Candy where he made many friends.
Joe was funny, kind, and generous. Literally, to know him was to love him. He had a special knack for making people feel comfortable, at home, and more than welcome. He was an amazing musician, able to pick up a guitar and sing with any local band, which he did whenever an opportunity arose. Joe was also an accomplished golfer. His name will bring a smile to many faces in more than a few clubhouses. Joe especially enjoyed golfing in the Borgia Open, in Jack Bird’s mixed league, and with his good friend George Oustrich.
Joe will be incredibly missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him.
I would like to thank Albert Mamary, M.D., his incredible team at Temple University Hospital, especially his nurses, Hannah and Ashley, and his private nursing consultant, Nancy Pochas.
Joe is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Belmore, his son and daughter-in-law Scott and Jeanine Pearson, along with his brother Scott Belmore, sister-in-law Sara Belmore, niece Christina Pierini, nephews Jason Pierini, Nick Belmore, and J.J. Belmore. He was preceded in death by his parents Betty and Joseph Belmore and his sister Linda Pierini.
Friends and family can pay their respects at Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, October 20, 2024, followed by a brief prayer service and military honors. All attending are invited to participate in a celebration of Joe's life afterwards.
