Joseph S. Kveragas

Joseph S. Kveragas of Dunmore passed surrounded by family on Sunday August 30, 2026.  His wife is the former Terri Trevino.

Born in Elmira, NY on February 1, 1945, he was the son of the late Stanley and Jean Powers Kveragas.  A resident of Dunmore for 80 years, he worked on the family farm, was a school teacher, and for most of his career traveled all over the US and Canada with his wife and best friend, Ter--touring with Broadway shows, rock concerts, ballet and symphonies with Clark Transfer of Harrisburg.  His knowledge about anything mechanical was astounding and there was not a thing he could not fix or build. He was their own Mr. Fix it.  He had an amazing sense of humor and was always making his family laugh and enjoyed pulling pranks on them. There wasn’t anyone he would not help from friends and family to strangers. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his four daughters, Kristina Ruiz and husband Rod of Wyoming, Stephanie Kveragas Miller and husband Kyle of Carbondale, Amanda Kveragas Schuback of Dunmore, Lori Matthews and husband Ryan of California, siblings Michael and his wife Connie of Dunmore, Melanie Konopka and her husband Bart of Florida, Gary and his wife Debbie of Dickson City, Cindy Funderburke and her husband David of North Carolina, and David Kveragas of Newton Township, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Avenue in Scranton. Interment to follow at Saint Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, September 2nd from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore.
