Joyce (Hines) Loureiro

Joyce Hines Loureiro, 81, of Taylor, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Dunmore Health Care Center in Dunmore. Her husband Anthony J. Loureiro Jr., passed away on March 27, 2026. The couple were married for 54 years.

Born in Kingston on October 20, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Elwood F. and Altheida Herring Hines. She graduated from the former West Pittston High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the banking industry for over 40 years. Family oriented, she was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her son, Mark; her daughter, LeAnne Shiffer, and husband, Michael; and granddaughters, Mia and Emily Shiffer. Also surviving are two brothers, Richard Hines and wife, Susan, and Randy Hines; a sister, Joan Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Hines and Elwood Hines, Jr.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of the Dunmore Health Care Center for the wonderful care given to Joyce during her stay. They would also like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice for their support during the final months of her life.

A Blessing service will be held Thursday at 6:00pm at the Savino Traditional Funerals and Cremation Care, 157 South Main Ave., Scranton. Family and friends may pay their respects from 4pm until the time of the service at the funeral home.

 Interment will be private at convenience of the family.
