Julia A. Kresefski Obituary

Julia A. Kresefski, of Old Forge, died early Tuesday at Geisinger-Community Medical Center in Scranton.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. “Ray” Kresefski, in 2006.

Born in Old Forge, daughter of the late John Codgen and Mary Talerico DelMonte, she was a graduate of Old Forge High School Class of 1955 and further continued her schooling, becoming a licensed cosmetologist.  Prior to her retirement, she worked at her family’s floral shop in Old Forge. Julia enjoyed traveling, especially to California, and also being with her family on their trips to the shore in New Jersey.  She also had been a member of the Basilica of St. Ann in West Scranton.

Surviving is a daughter, Julie A. Talarico and husband Joseph of Old Forge; sons Raymond Kresefski and wife Barbara of Old Forge, Phillip Kresefski and wife Diane of North Carolina, Mark Kresefski and partner Leo of Lake Ariel, and David Kresefski of Old Forge; her sister Ann Marie Hughes of Old Forge; her brothers John, Anthony, and George Codgen, all of California; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis M. Wedlock and Kitty Codgen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Basilica of St. Ann, St. Ann St., West Scranton.  All those attending the mass are asked to go directly to the church Saturday morning. 

A private family viewing will be held on Friday from 4-6 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore. 

Interment will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that contributions in Julia’s memory be made to the Scranton Counseling Center, 329 Cherry St., Scranton, PA 18505.
