Leonard A. Tomaro, 80, Dunmore, died Thursday evening in Geisinger-Wyoming Valley Medical Center. He and the love of his life, the former JoAnn Riccardo had been married for 55 years.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Mecca Tomaro. Lenny was lifelong member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore and was a graduate of Dunmore High School Class of 1959. Prior to retirement he worked for various trucking companies, most recently Roadway. He had logged over 2 million miles without an accident.
After retirement Lenny worked along side his son and son in law in the family business at Jay’s Business Systems. He was an avid hunter and member of the Dunmore Sportsman’s Hunting Club, and had volunteered for over 50 years frying peppers at St. Rocco’s Italian Festival in Bunker Hill every August. But most of all he loved spending time with his family especially attending all of his grandchildren’s events and activities.
Also surviving are his children, Jean Marie Lawless and her husband Brian, Dunmore, and Joseph Tomaro and his wife Jennifer, Moore Twp., five grandchildren, Brianna Lawless and her fiancé Kyle Dougherty, Virgina, Cory Lawless, Dunmore, and Caitlyn, Emma, and Joseph Tomaro Jr., all of Moore Twp., a brother Dominick Tomaro and his wife Ann Marie, Dunmore, brother-in-law Daniel Riccardo and his wife Mary, Dunmore and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore. Interment to follow in the Dunmore Cemetery.
