Linda Mulhern Smith Obituary

Linda Mulhern Smith, 75, of Dunmore, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening at home. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Wilkes-Barre and raised in the “Brown Town” section of Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Ann McHale Mulhern. She was a graduate of Pittston Area High School and prior to her retirement, she was employed by Gertrude Hawk Chocolates where she built long lasting friendships with her co-workers for over 30 years.

Linda was very proud of her Irish heritage and had the privilege of traveling to Ireland on many occasions with her six siblings who she loved and adored. She had a special bond with each of them and cherished all the time she spent with them. They affectionately referred to each other as “We are Seven.” Linda was a loving mother to her three children and was so proud of them but what she was most proud of was being a grandmother. She loved and cherished her grandchildren and was always their biggest supporter. She was an amazing cook and loved hosting her family during the holidays, especially Christmas Day. She was a wonderful baker and was known for her famous pumpkin roll. Our life will not be the same without her. She will forever be missed and loved until we meet again.

Surviving are her loving children, Jim Smith and wife Katie, Brent, and Tara Smith, all of Dunmore; her adoring grandchildren, Bailey, Ava, Cullen and Cash; her youngest brother, Dan Mulhern and wife Lynne of Virginia, and youngest sister, Mary Mulhern Miller and companion Harry Radle of Duryea; her loyal fur granddaughter, Stella Blue, never left her side; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and  great-nephews who she also loved and whom she was very proud;  many cousins, neighbors, and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her loving sisters, Ann Marie Clark and Ellen Sickler; loving brothers, Thomas Mulhern and Brian Mulhern who were waiting to welcome her home; mother-in-law, Lillian Smith; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Smith and Angela Mulhern; and brothers-in-law, Jack Clark and Fred Sickler. It gives us great comfort knowing she was reunited with her loved ones and that there is a big celebration going on with lots of love and laughter.

The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with a mass at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton.

Interment is private at the convenience of the family.
