Lucia Concetta Riggi

Lucia Concetta Riggi, 79 of Dunmore, died Monday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Cataldo Dixie and Alfonsina Ferragonio Riggi.

Lucia was a graduate of Dunmore High School, and Marywood College. Prior to retirement she was a teacher in the Scranton School District over forty-four years. She was a member of St. John Paul II Parish in Dunmore.

Lucia or Miss Riggi as she was known to many, had a compassionate heart and found great joy in caring for the many cats she lovingly rescued and nurtured over the years. An avid gardener, she took immense pride in cultivating beautiful flowers and creating a peaceful garden that reflected her kind and gentle spirit. She found happiness in sharing her garden to all who visited her.

Surviving are several cousins; she was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Her funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 13th @ 9:30 AM in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut St., Dunmore. Interment will be private at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore. There are no public calling hours, all those attending the Mass are asked to gather at the church at 9:15 AM.
