Lucille Elizabeth Mecca

Lucille Elizabeth Mecca, 88, of Dunmore, passed away Tuesday evening at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She was the widow of the late Anthony Mecca who died in 1983.

Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Elizabeth Ferrone Azzarelli and attended the Dunmore Public Schools. Prior to retirement, she worked at Marywoood College in the maintenance department.

Lucille was a devout catholic and a member of SS Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and put the needs of everyone else before her own. She was a very self-less woman and never complained. Everyone who knew her loved her.

Lucille’s family wishes to thank Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli and the nurses and staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for all of their care and compassion shown to their mom.

Surviving are daughters; Marybeth Killian and husband Gerald, Scranton and Carmel Gevaras and husband George, Dunmore. Grandchildren; Jennifer Killian, Lindsay Killian, Michael Richmond, Nicole Richmond, Tony Mecca and Gina Mecca. Great-grandchildren; Ryleigh and Blake. A sister; Maryann Summa and husband Angelo, Dunmore. Nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a son; Peter Mecca, a sister; Rose Chupko and a brother; Liberto Azzarelli.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 11:00am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.  Those attending the mass are kindly and respectfully asked to practice social distancing, and are required to wear a mask.

Interment; Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.
