Margaret Ann “Cookie” Vaccaro, 81, of Dunmore, passed away on Saturday evening at St. Mary’s Villa in Elmhurst. She was the widow of the late Angelo Vaccaro.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy Summa Genovese. She was a 1961 Graduate of Dunmore High School and attended Scranton State Nursing School. Prior to retirement, a nurse by profession, she was the Director of Quality Assurance for the former Lackawanna County Healthcare Center.
Margaret lived a life filled with creativity and joy. She was best known for her talent in crafting, always finding beauty in the simplest materials and turning them into something special. Whether it was sewing, knitting, painting, or creating handmade gifts, she poured love into every piece. Her creations brightened homes, marked special occasions, and left treasured keepsakes for family and friends. Her grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye, were the recipients of many of her knitting and craft projects.
The family would like to thank the nurses and nurse aides at St. Mary’s Villa in Elmhurst and Traditional Hospice for their compassionate care, kindness and support in Margaret’s final days.
Surviving is her daughter, Lucia Behler and husband Dale, Dunmore. Grandsons, Dominic, Anthony and Matthew Behler. A sister, Donna Green, Scranton. A brother, Andrew Genovese. Sisters-in-law, Arlene Genovese and Rachel Genovese, of Scranton and Margaret Robertson, Stamford, CT. Nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St. Dunmore with a 11:00 am Blessing Service in the funeral home. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
