Margaret "Peggy" (DeNinno) DiRienzo, R.N.

Margaret “Peggy” DiRienzo, R.N., 70, Scranton, died unexpectedly at her home Tuesday morning. She and her husband, Paul “P.J.” DiRienzo would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on November 23rd. Peggy's kind, loving and generous nature was a true blessing for her family and friends.  She will be greatly missed.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of Mary Ann Gizzo DeNinno of Scranton and the late Nicholas J. DeNinno and was a member of St. Ann Basilica Parish in Scranton. Peggy was a graduate of West Scranton High School Class of 1971, the Mercidian School of Nursing earning her Licensed Practical Nurse degree and Syracuse University to obtain her degree as a Registered Nurse. Prior to retirement she had worked at Geisinger-Community Medical Center for 46 years, of which 38 years was spent in the NICU Department.

Also surviving are her son, Christopher and his wife Krista, Peckville, a sister Kathy Mayer and her husband E.J. III of Scranton, two nephews, Jody Mayer and his wife Gabrielle, Scranton and Nicholas Mayer, Clifton, NJ, and a niece Jennifer Hudak and her husband Tom, Archbald, her beloved Maltese "Nina", a brother in law Joseph DiRienzo and wife Sue of Scranton and a sister in law Barbara DiRienzo of Scranton.

The funeral will be Friday with Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Ann Basilica, 1233 St. Ann Street, Scranton.  Entombment in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
