Margery Goldstein Rosenberg

Margery Goldstein Rosenberg, 91, of Maitland, FL and formerly of Scranton, died Wednesday at home in Florida.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Paul Rosenberg, on July 11, 2020.

Born August 14, 1932 in Scranton, daughter of the late Dr. Milton and Sylvia Kaplan Goldstein, she was educated and graduated from Wyoming Seminary and Cedar Crest College.  Twice chairperson of the Women’s Division of the Jewish Federation, Margery was active in several religious and civic organizations.  She was also a member of Glen Oak County Club for many years where she was instrumental in the inception of the Susan G. Komen Rally for the Cure Women’s Golf Tournament.  A lover of books and reading, she was the president of the Brandeis University Library local chapter.  She had an endless love for family, especially her grandchildren and now great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Double Bubbe,” a title that gave her the utmost joy. 

Surviving is a daughter Jane Briskman and husband Arthur; a son Robert Rosenberg and wife Faye; grandchildren Dr. Stacy Rosenberg and husband Dr. Gregory Weiner, and David Rosenberg and wife Amanda, Rachel Briskman and fiancé John Robert Thorsen, and Miriam Fleet and husband Eli; six great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Carol Goldberg.

A graveside service will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. in Temple Israel Cemetery, West Warren St., Dunmore.

Friends will be received during shiva at the home of her son Robert on Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m.
