Marie A. Novak, 91, of Hudson, Florida, previously of North Scranton, passed away Monday afternoon at The Canopy at Beacon Woods in Hudson, Florida. She was the widow of the late Robert R. Novak who passed away in 2002.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Rosar and Mary Longo Battista. She was a 1951 graduate of Dunmore High School and was a long-time member of Mary, Mother of God Parish in North Scranton. Prior to retirement, she was a machine operator at Anemostat in Scranton.
Marie took great pleasure in caring for her grandchildren. Family was very important to her. She loved her dog, Sandy. Marie was a faithful woman and loved her Sunday morning church services and shopping trips with her son Mark, with whom she resided for the past 15 years. She loved spending time with her best friend of over 50 years, Francis Perry. She enjoyed girl’s nights with her friends in Florida.
Surviving are sons, Mark and wife Joan, Hudson, Florida, David and wife Nadine, Clifford, Pennsylvania. Eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. 3 great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Battista. A sister, Joan Ehnot. A Great Granddaughter, Brittany Elizabeth Novak. A Niece, Mary Ann McHale.
The funeral will be Tuesday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am from Mary, Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 316 William St. Scranton.
Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:00am until the time of mass at the church
