Marie Pavlowski, 83, of Dunmore, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening at home, surrounded by the love of her devoted children and grandchildren. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Pavlowski, with whom she shared more than 50 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2015.
Born and raised in Dunmore, Marie was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Cavanaugh Newberry. After graduating from high school, she pursued a career in nursing and worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Community Medical Center until her retirement in 2000.
After retiring, Marie joyfully embraced being a full-time grandmother. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family, who were truly the center of her world. Known for her gentle wisdom and warmth, she was the person everyone turned to for guidance.
Marie was a woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and boundless love. She enjoyed reading, cherished her friendships, and was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Dunmore. Her kindness, grace, and loving spirit will live on forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her loving children: Thomas Pavlowski and wife, Melissa; Robert Pavlowski; Mary Ann Pavlowski; Judy Oprisko; and Karen DeVivo and husband, Frank, all of Dunmore; her cherished grandchildren Emily, Megan, and Thomas Pavlowski; Kyle, Maren, and Keegan Oprisko; Cory, Taryn, and Scott Jefferson; Kara Frazier; Matthew DeVivo; and Geri Pumillo; her adored great-grandchildren Kaiden, Elyse, Samaiya, and Zaria Jefferson; Wyatt Frazier; Millie and Grace DeVivo; and Erin and Cori Pumillo; and her faithful pup Sadie.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Allied Services Hospice, whose compassion and dedication brought comfort to Marie and her family over the past year.
The funeral will be Saturday, November 22, from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore. Interment will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Covington Twp.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, November 22 from 8 to 9:30 am at the funeral home.
