Marie Frances (Serrenti) Zielinski

Marie Frances Zielinski, 88, of Dunmore, passed away on Sunday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore after 11years of being stricken with dementia.  Her husband, the late Thomas M., Sr. passed away in 2018. The couple had been married for 59 years.

Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Gnazio and Josephine Feritti Serrenti. She attended the Dunmore Public Schools and was a seamstress in the local garment factory.

Marie enjoyed taking day trips to the Casino, flea markets, spending time with her sisters and a nice glass of wine. Her family was the center of her world especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She loved spending time with them and enjoyed teaching them how to bake. No one ever left Marie’s house on an empty stomach or with their hands empty.  She will sadly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for all of their care and compassion shown to Marie and her family.

Surviving is a daughter, Lori Edwards, Dunmore. Sons, Thomas M., Jr. and wife Debbie, Dunmore, Jim and wife Maria, Archbald and Jeff, Throop. Grandchildren, Chris Zielinski and wife Kate, Keith Zielinski and wife Laura, Craig Zielinski and wife Kayla, Kyle Zielinski and wife Megan, Leah and Cara Zielinski, Scott Edwards, Jake Edwards and wife Steph and Dean Edwards. Great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Nathan, Allison, Matthew, Claire and Michael. Sisters, Sara Lonsdorf, Scranton and Joann Bogdanski, Scranton. A sister-in-law, Loretta Serrenti, FL. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Samuel Serrenti and Nazerene Serrenti and wife Marie. A niece, Lisa Kelly. Brothers-in-law, Arthur Lonsdorf and Leonard Bogdanski.

The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St. Dunmore with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore.

Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday morning from 8:30am until 9:30am at the funeral home.
