Marie Carmella Salerno Allegrucci, of Scranton died September 17, 2023, at the age of 93.
Marie was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Peter and Concetta Gentile Salerno. Marie’s loving husband Nello of 66 years died January 26th this year.
Marie has 3 sons, Michael Maiore, wife Betsy of Cherry Hill, NJ, Nello Jr, wife Jennie of Bradenton, Fl, Carmen and wife Eileen of Madison Township and a daughter, Annemarie Daffaro and husband Jim of Scott Township. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren, nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces. She is also survived by a sister Grace Rossi of Long Island, NY.
She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Elementary School and attended St Patrick’s High School, Scranton. Marie was a lifelong member of St. Lucy’s Church, Scranton. She was a bookkeeper at the American Auto Stores and a garment worker. Her favorite job however was as a homemaker and loving mother. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was known to be the life of a party keeping a smile on everyone’s face. She will sadly be missed by family and friends.
She was proceeded in death by brothers, Michael, Joseph, Rocco, Carmen, sister Rose Perry and an infant sister.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of the Mountain View Care Center of Scranton for their wonderful care given to Marie over the last 18 months. They were there for us to give our mother the comfort and care she needed. We ask God’s blessings for them.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday September 20th at 11a.m. in St. Lucy’s Church, 949 Scranton St., West Scranton, which will be celebrated by Rev. Carmen Perry Jr, nephew and godson of Marie.
Family and friends may call Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m.-10:45 a.m. at St. Lucy’s Church.
Entombment to follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Memorial contributions in Marie’s memory may be made in St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
