Marie K. Pelicci

Marie K. Pelicci, 97, Scranton, died Thursday evening at Abington Manor.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Joseph Pelicci, in 2004.

Born in Old Forge, daughter of the late Anthony and Frances Cimino Talarico, she was a graduate of Old Forge High School and went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree from the former Marywood College.  Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an English teacher in the Old Forge School District.  Marie was very proud of her Italian heritage and loved to cook her traditional Italian meals for her family whom she adored, especially her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed a night out square dancing with her husband in her earlier years.

Surviving is her son-in-law Gerry Remick, Scranton; her daughter-in-law Ann Pelicci, Waverly; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Remick; son Dr. Leroy Pelicci; and her sisters Frances Greco and Rose Brutico.

A private service will be held. 

Because Marie was such a lover of animals, the family kindly asks that contributions in her memory be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Rd., South Abington Twp., PA 18411.
