Mario C. Genovese, 76, Waverly, died Sunday afternoon in the Regional Hospital of Scranton.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Casper and Vincentine “Dolly” Consagra Genovese.
Mario loved good food especially Sfogitelli and pasta. Starbucks was one of his favorite hangouts where he would enjoy his espresso and conversations with friends. He loved his family and was very proud of them. Mario loved reading about history especially the presidents. In his quiet time he reflected on his deep spiritual beliefs.
His family wishes to thank his “angels” Tara, Belinda, Judie, Francesca, Bridget, and Laurie as well DaVita Dialysis and Allied Services Rehabilitation for the care and compassion provided to Mario.
Surviving are a daughter, Gina Marie Skelton and her husband Todd, Virginia Beach, VA, two sisters, Marcelle Genovese, Waverly and Grace Marie Lewis and her husband Ben, Dalton, two grandchildren, Samantha Skelton and Shane Skelton, a sister-in-law Carol Genovese, a nephew Matthew Lewis and his wife Stacy, two nieces Marissa Lewis and Renee Koulouris and her husband Ted, as well as great nieces and nephews Bryson, Bailey, Emma, and Louis.
He was preceded in death by a brother Louis and a nephew Louis Genovese.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10AM in the Church of Saint Gregory 330 North Abington Road in Clarks Summit. Visitation will take place at the church from 9AM until the time of Mass. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton.
