Marion Glassman, 100, passed away in her sleep, at home in her bed with family near, on November 7, 2025. Born Marion Arlene Rubin in Scranton on July 25, 1925, to Sarah and Abraham Rubin, who created Rubin's Department Store on Capouse Avenue, and sister to the late Ruth Karnoff. In 1947, she married Aaron Glassman, a WWII veteran, and together they created G&G Sewing Machine Company, in which she worked for 4 decades while raising a family.
Marion was an active lifelong member of the Beth Shalom Congregation and the Jewish Home Sisterhoods. She played the piano, loved music, books, crosswords, walking Lake Scranton, and was devoted to her family, opening her home to family members from near and far. She was a wonderful listener, and her advice and sayings were treasured and recalled with warmth and humor. She lived in Scranton until she was 93, when she moved to Israel and resided with her family in Jerusalem.
Marion is survived by her children, Lee (Lynn), Diane (Robert), and Alan (Laurel), (their spouses), as well as eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at the gravesite in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery on Wednesday, November 12th, at 11a.m.
Shiva will be held at the home of Alan and Laurel Glassman, 110 Rock Ridge Drive, Clarks Summit, Wednesday evening 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
