Marlene J. Klovensky, 89, Dunmore and formerly of Waverly, died Tuesday morning at the home of her son, James, who had served as her caregiver upon the death of her husband Edward James Klovensky in 2017.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Mario and Rose Longinotti Polizzi, she was a graduate of Scranton Central High School. It was here that she met her future husband of 62 years, “Eddie K”, while she was active as majorette and he was a superstar football player with Dunmore High School. Marlene was a model in her younger years and had been employed with numerous financial institutions over a career spanning over 34 years. She was also a former member the Church of St. Gregory in Clarks Summit.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore for the amazing support and superior care shown to Marlene during her times of need over the past three and a half years.
Surviving are her dedicated sons and caregivers, James E. Klovensky and wife Eunyoung with whom she resided and where she received unwavering care; and Jeffrey A. Klovensky, who cared for both parents throughout the years and remained active with his mother’s long-term necessities even throughout her time living with James; as well as her sister Rosalie Miles.
She was also preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Cruciani.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore. Entombment to follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Family and friends may pay their respects that day at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
