Martin “Marty” Brazill died at the age of 80 on September 19, 2024. He was married to the former Carolyn Sukenick for 56 years.
He was born and raised in Scranton and was the son of Vincent and Marjorie Brazill. Marty graduated in 1962 from South Scranton Catholic High School. HE worked at the Scranton Times for years and worked at Scranton Engineering until it closed. Marty then started working at Mercy Hospital as a printer, supplying all the forms used daily throughout the hospital. He worked at the hospital for 20 years.
Marty became involved with the local baseball leagues, especially the Green Ridge Little League, Teener League, and Babe Ruth League. His sons enjoyed spending their summers playing baseball and the love of baseball stayed with them throughout their high school years.
Marty and Carolyn have four sons and one daughter. They also raised their grandson since he was born. He is now 18 years old. The Children are: Marty and wife Kelly, James and wife Tricia, Michael and wife Meagan, Richard and wife Danielle. A daughter, Margaret
Grandchildren: Dominick, Joshua, Kenny, Collin, Rory, Griffin, Owen, Clara, and Lillian.
Brothers: Terry Brazill and wife Anita and Thomas Brazill and wife Kathleen
Sisters: Marybeth Dwyer and Barbara Smith.
He had many nieces and nephews. Marty had a great love for his family and they loved him in return.
He was also preceded in death by a brother Paul.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 30th at 11:00am by Msgr. Neil Van Loon at St. Clare Church, 2251 N. Washington Ave., Scranton.
The family will receive visitors from 10:30am until the time of mass at the church.
Interment is private at the convenience of the family.
