Mary Catherine Giordano, 91 years old, was peacefully called home by Our Lord on November 24, 2024, just shy of her 92nd birthday. She was the beloved wife of the late Angelo (Ang) Giordano of Dunmore PA who passed away on July 3, 2024. The couple had been married for 72 loving years.
Mary was known for her steadfast love and devotion to her faith, family and friends. Mary dedicated her life to her family, while creating a home with unwavering support and never-ending love. Those who were privileged to know Mary, lovingly referred to her as “St. Mary” due to her sweet, loving disposition, as well as her strength, boundless energy, kindness, positivity, generosity, endurance, beautiful smile and radiant spirit.
Mary was born in Dunmore, PA, the daughter of the late Anthony and Domenica (Mamie) Lacerenza Coviello of Dunmore, PA, and was the youngest of six children. She graduated Dunmore High School and married the love of her life on June 21, 1952. They moved to NJ in 1959 where she worked as a secretary/office manager for Radiologist Sanford G. Bluestein M.D. office in Pompton Plains, NJ where her beloved husband was employed as an x-ray technician. In addition to being a secretary, she devoted her time to her family as a remarkable homemaker. In 1973 Mary and Ang established An-Mar Ambulance, Inc. of Wayne NJ, a private medical transportation company, where she was involved in many of the business operations. Later after over 20 years, she and Ang built A&M Self-Storage, Inc., also in Wayne, NJ. After the businesses were sold, Mary focused on caring for her live-in mother and her family. Family was paramount to Mary, tirelessly providing a comfortable and loving home, where Mary proudly displayed her cooking and baking skills. Her legendary, homemade biscotti were a hit with everyone! She embraced and found joy in family gatherings, especially during the Christmas Season. Mary was a kind and generous soul guided by her strong, devoted faith. She saw the good in everyone and always had kind words to say, touching the hearts of many. All those that were fortunate to know Mary, or even have a brief encounter with her, described her as Sweet and Genuine. She was always so appreciative of those that lent a helping hand. Mary radiated Love, because that was what she was made of. Her memory will be forever etched in our hearts, and she will be sadly missed.
Mary is survived by her children, Beverly Baker of PA; David Giordano of NJ; and her grandson, Nicholas Giordano of NJ.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; parents; four brothers: Frank, Leonard, Joseph, and Donato Coviello and a sister: Lucy Coviello Giambrone; a grandson Jason Simcoe; and a son-in-law Charles Baker.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 11AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 303 Smith St., Dunmore. Interment to follow in Dunmore Cemetery.
Family and friends may visit Wednesday morning from 9:30AM-10:30AM in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore.
