Mary A. Musso, 97, of Dunmore, died Sunday morning at the Green Ridge Care Center in Scranton. She was the wife of the late Anthony Musso, who died in 1975.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late James and Rose DeMarco Chicco and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. A lifelong member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore and its Altar & Rosary Society, Mary was very active volunteering for many church events including ticket raffles and other various fundraisers. She loved traveling, especially to Atlantic City, as well as playing bingo. Mary was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and good friend to many. She was very active and will also be fondly remembered for her time spent working at Bishop O’Hara/Holy Cross High School and St. Anthony’s Playground where she helped several generations of children in the community during her retirement years. Prior to this, she was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry.
Surviving are a son Tony, Musso and his wife, Cathy, Dunmore; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Musso, Scranton; a sister-in-law, Angela Chicco, Dunmore; six grandchildren, Kim Jarosh and her husband, Chris, Eynon; Bob Musso and wife, Michele, Dunmore; Kristen Musso and Tony Musso, both of Dunmore; Christopher Musso and wife, Stephanie, Scranton; Jennifer Jarecki and husband, Jason, Moosic; nine great-grandchildren, Jake, Brendan and Emma Jarosh, Tyler Musso, Isabella, Ronald and Emma Musso, and Gianna and Kaylee Jarecki; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sons, Ronald Musso and infant son, Robert Musso; two sisters, Ang Falduto and Rachel Romano; and two brothers, Patrick Chicco, and Anthony Chicco, who died in WWII.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Dunmore. Interment will take place in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.
