Melanie L. Gallagher Verrastro

Melanie L. Gallagher Verrastro, 49, of Dunmore, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday. 

Born in Ridgewood, NJ, she was the daughter of Barbara Urena DeSpirito and stepfather Michael, Barnegat, NJ, and the late William Gallagher.  Melanie was a graduate of Hawthorne High School and Ramapo College of New Jersey.  She later attended the Marywood Ph.D. program.  She loved being with her kids and family and was passionate about the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter. 

Also surviving is a daughter Ava Verrastro and a son, Jacob Verrastro, both of Dunmore; a brother Jeffrey Gallagher and wife, Donna, Clayton, NJ; nieces, Samantha and Katelyn Gallagher; nephews DJ and Tyler Strausser; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A blessing service will be held on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
