Michael J. Gianzanti

Michael J. Gianzanti, 94, Dunmore, died Friday morning at Moses Taylor Hospital. His wife, the former Eleanor A. Shumbres, died in 2014 after celebrating 57 years of marriage.

Born in Dunmore, son of the late Joseph and Louise Chicco Gianzanti, he attended Dunmore public schools where he was a drum major in the marching band, and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed by UGL. 

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was an accordion player in a band in his early years, and continued his love for music playing piano throughout his life. He could fix anything, and is now heaven’s handyman.

He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Doran and husband Brian, Marie Scannella and husband Sam, and Michele McHale and husband Don; grandchildren Angelia and husband Domenic, Michael, Gabriella, Matthew and wife Rebecca, Amanda, Abigail, Melissa, and Justin; great-grandson Brayden Michael Polasky; and brother Joseph Gianzanti.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Kelly.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.  All those attending are asked to follow current safely guidelines in respect to wearing a mask and social distancing. 

Interment to follow in Dunmore Cemetery.
