Michael A. Santarsiero, Sr.

Michael A. Santarsiero, Sr. 92, of Clarks Summit, died Saturday evening after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, the former Jean M. McCarty, in 2008.

Born in Dunmore, son of the late Donato and Carmella Sacco Santarsiero, he was a graduate of Dunmore High School, Class of 1947, and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore.  Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a serviceman with Pennsylvania Gas and Water. 

Michael was known for his patience and being a handyman.  He was always willing to help any person in need, and took care of everyone, especially his grandchildren.  Michael always had a smile on his face.

Surviving are his daughters, Jane Leach, Elmhurst, and Marilyn Ulrich and husband, Robert, Clarks Summit; sons, Joseph P. Santarsiero, Scott Township, Michael A. Santarsiero, Jr., Scott Township, and William Santarsiero and wife, Nicole, Clarks Green; a brother, Carmen “Sandy” Santarsiero; grandchildren, Victoria and Zackery Leach, Michael W. Santarsiero, Justin and Sarah Urlich, Charlie and Sophia Santarsiero; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Joseph and Angelo Santarsiero; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret Coviello and husband Andrew; a sister-in-law Barbara Santarsiero; a son-in-law, Michael Leach; and infant grandson, Cody Leach.

The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore. There is no public viewing due to the current pandemic.  All those attending the mass are asked to go directly to the church, and to kindly follow current safety guidelines in respect to social distancing and wearing a mask immediately upon entering the church. 

Interment to follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst Township.
