On Sunday, November 19,2023, Michael David Muraca, 37, of Olyphant and formerly of Dunmore, passed away unexpectedly.
Michael, known lovingly as “Dode” by those who knew him well, was an amazing, talented, and witty person. Michael was a graduate of Dunmore High School Class of 2004 and attended East Stroudsburg University and the Culinary Program at Keystone College. Michael was an amazing chef and was the proprietor of Cater 2U Catering. He was also employed at the Mount Airy Casino. Michael had a deep love of animals and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Dallas Cowboys.
Michael is survived by his devoted mother, Denise Moran of Dunmore; his father Frank Muraca of Moosic; his brother Frank J. Muraca, Jr. and wife, Shelly, of Carbondale; his sister Leigh King and husband, Daniel, of Scranton; and Caroline Gentile of Dunmore. Michael is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews, Emma McHale, Erin McHale, Charlotte Muraca, Michael Gentile, Lana Gentile, Danny King, and Matthew King; as well as aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins.
Michael was preceded in death by his brother Brandon Muraca; his maternal grandparents Arthur J. Moran and Jean Nealon Moran; and paternal grandparents Frank B. Muraca and Grace Williams Muraca.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 25th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul’s Church, 1510 Penn Ave., Scranton.
Family and friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. to the time of mass. Interment to follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
