Michael J. Cardone, Sr., 86, of Dunmore, surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon February 17, 2024. He was preceded in death by his best friend and the love of his life, Nancy Graham Cardone, whom he was married to for 48 years.
Born July 13, 1937, he was the son of the late Daniel and Ursula DeLorenzo Cardone. Raised in Dunmore, he graduated from Dunmore High School class of 1955. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy from 1956-1958 with an honorable discharge.
Michael will always be remembered for the love he had for his family, friends and golf. He served on the Board of Directors, Elmhurst Country Club (Chairman of Course and Grounds). He was also a lifelong New York Giants and New York Yankees fan and an avid supporter of the Dunmore Bucks. Throughout his life he worked in construction and warehouse distribution, until later in life he achieved his dream of owning/managing Kuzzins Café in Dunmore from 1984 -1997. For 13 years he enjoyed the comradery of friends and patrons who frequented his establishment and developed lifelong memories.
He is survived by daughter Michele A. Homish and husband David; sons Michael J. Cardone, Jr. and wife Karen, and William P. Cardone and wife Kelly; his pride and joy, grandchildren Kaitlyn Hock (Mitchell), Emily Raufi (Nikolas), Olivia Zipay (Tyler), Evan Homish and Alicia Kradzinski, William Cardone, and Aden Cardone; and great-grandchild Kinlee Jane Hock; his sister Lucille Cardone and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A special thank you to Dr. Getts and the staff of DaVita Dunmore (Jen, Libby and Kathy) for their unwavering concern, patience and care. We will be forever grateful!
Also thank you to all of the staff at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore for their caring, compassion, and support to our family at the end of his life.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 208 Smith St., Dunmore. Interment will be privately held in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Dunmore.
Friends may call Tuesday, February 20th from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
