Michelina Macciocco Polito, 73, of Dunmore, peacefully passed away Tuesday surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Paris Macciocco.
She was a graduate of West Scranton High School and Keystone Beauty School. She worked her entire career as a hairstylist and started at the former Joe Trovato’s and Yolanda’s Hair Salons in downtown Scranton. She won numerous awards in her early years entering various styling competitions. She opened her own salon, Micki’s Hair Designs in downtown Scranton, which was later relocated to Penn Avenue, Scranton.
The essentials in her life were God, family and friends. She had a penchant for cooking and loved to entertain family and friends at her home.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Nicholas Jr.; two children, Nicholas III, Emmaus, Pa., and a daughter, Michele, Scranton; brother, Joseph Macciocco and wife, Lori, Scranton; brother, Ross Macciocco and wife, Terri, Dunmore; a granddaughter, Giuliana Grace Polito; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 27, at St. Lucy’s Church in West Scranton with interment at Cathedral Cemetery immediately following the Mass. Visitation will be at the Church from 9 to 11 a.m. with the Mass immediately following. The family asks those attending to kindly adhere to social distancing guidelines and to wear a mask.
