Michelle Theresa Higgins, 78, of Dunmore, passed away on Thursday at Geisinger-Community Medical Center in Scranton surrounded by family and friends. Surviving is her husband Frank J. Higgins. The couple had been married for 51 years.
Born in Orange, New Jersey she was the daughter of the late Albert Harrington and Catherine Gates Harrington.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Dunmore. Prior to retirement, she worked in the food service department at Geisinger-Community Medical Center in Scranton.
Michelle was an avid walker, reader, and a music fan. She was a strong and stoic woman who never complained about anything. She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family meant everything to her and brought her the most joy. All who knew and loved her will sadly miss her.
Also surviving are her son, Corey and wife Marisa, Holden, Massachusetts and daughter, Shelley McHale and husband Kevin, Dunmore. Grandchildren, Jack and Colin McHale and Trevor and Harper Higgins.
Brother and sisters-in-law, Jack Higgins and wife Annette, Florence Iezzi and husband William, and Andrea Higgins, all of Dunmore. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Rosemary Higgins, and brother-in-law, Leo Higgins.
The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St. Dunmore with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church, Chestnut St. in Dunmore.
Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday morning from 8:30-9:30am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Joseph’s Center, Dunmore.
