Myrna Ruth Watkins, known for her selfless heart and vibrant, high-spirited character, died peacefully on October 15th in Fort Myers, FL at the age of 83, surrounded by her beloved family – near and afar.
Born in Scranton, PA, Myrna was a proud graduate of West Scranton High School. Her character was profoundly reflective of her name, which means “beloved” and “high spirited”. She dedicated her career to being a caregiver for mentally handicapped adults working for Keystone Community Resources.
Myrna was defined by her immediate and unconditional generosity, a steadfast source of loyalty and aid for family and friends alike. She lived a life marked by passion, a distinctive fashionable flair, and immense love of dancing.
Myrna is preceded in death by her beloved parents, George and Ruth Davies Watkins, and her dear siblings, Marion Urquhart, Richard Watkins, Gwen Mulderig, and Georgina Levy.
She is survived by her loving brother and sister-in-law Robert and Judy Watkins along with her nieces Lori Uher, Teri Huester, and Gwen Walsh; and nephew Robert Watkins – as well as numerous extended family members and friends who became family.
The funeral will be on Tuesday, October 28th at 11 a.m. at Dunmore Presbyterian Church, 137 Chestnut Street, Dunmore, PA 18512.
Family and friends may pay respects at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
Interment will follow in Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Township.
