Patricia Lawrence Brown, 80, of South Abington Township and formerly of Dunmore, died Thursday, December 16th at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore.
Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Dr. Salvatore and Hannah Watkinson Lawrence, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Marywood College and taught art classes spanning three decades in the Dunmore School District prior to her retirement. During her tenure she also oversaw the production of the yearbook. She touched many lives by mentoring students down a career path in the arts, by providing a safe space and guidance in her classroom and became known as “Mom” or “Ma” Brown to many of the students and her children’s friends.
Surviving are her sons Ken Brown and wife Cindy of Moscow, John Brown and wife Naja of Pittsburgh, and Tim Brown of Gouldsboro; daughter-in-law Diane Brown of Dunmore; her sisters Elaine Foster and husband Dr. William, Toni Thomas, Marty Lawrence all of Florida, and Bonnie Baumgart and husband Karl of Arizona; her brothers Jackson Lawrence and wife Carolyn of Arizona, and Dr. Salvatore Lawrence and wife Marita of Roaring Brook Township; her beloved grandchildren Alexa and Jason Brown of Moscow, Lauren and Erica Brown of Dunmore, Haley Mudd and Cali Brown both of Pittsburgh; niece Courtney Lawrence and great niece Emily Tucker of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her son, David Brown in June 2021; and niece, Nicki Foster Norton.
Friends may pay their respects at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore on Saturday, January 8th from 2-4 p.m.
All those attending are required to follow current safety guidelines with respect to social distancing and mask wearing, regardless of vaccination status. The family asks those who visit not to linger.
Interment will be privately held at a later date in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.
