Patrick N. “Pat” Portanova, Jr., 76, of the Bunker Hill Section of Dunmore, died Friday in Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. His wife, the former Dolores Pooth, died in 1992.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Patrick Sr. and Carmella “Molly” DiSavino Portanova, he was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore. Prior to his retirement, he was the head of maintenance for UGL. Pat was a true patriarch of the family, and will forever be known as a generous, selfless, and thoughtful individual who was always willing to help anyone.
Surviving is his son, Anthony Portanova and wife Kerri, Moscow; stepson Philip Williams and wife Lisa, Scranton; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rocco’s Church, Kurtz St., Dunmore. Interment to follow in Dunmore Cemetery. All those attending are asked to go directly to the church.
Friends may call Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Savino Traditional Funerals and Cremation Care, 157 S. Main Ave., West Scranton. Carl J. Savino, Jr., Supervisor. Those who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are required to wear a mask at both the funeral home and the church.
Contributions in Pat’s memory may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Rd., S. Abington Twp., PA 18411 in honor of his grand-dogs.
