Patsy Amendolaro Obituary

Patsy J. Amendolaro, 97, of Roaring Brook Twp., died Saturday morning in Allied Hospice. He and his wife, the former Jennie Sottile, who died June 22, had celebrated 70 years of marriage Nov. 6.

Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Maria "Mamie" Telesca Amendolaro and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore. Patsy attended Dunmore public schools, served honorably in the United States Army during WWII and then together with his wife were the original owners of Gold Crown Pizza in Dunmore and Hamlin Beer Distributing in Hamlin.

He was a loving, kind and caring father, grandfather, brother, uncle and loyal friend. If you were Patsy's friend, you were so for life. He greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting, was an outstanding dancer, and especially loved the art of harness racing. Patsy was an original member of the Bucktown Rod and Gun Club in Dunmore.

His family wishes to thank the Rev. David Cappelloni, Bruce Amendolaro and Donna and Jill Mathewson for their support, care and compassion throughout.

Surviving are a son, Sylvester Amendolaro; and a daughter, Mary Jo Amendolaro, both of Roaring Brook Twp.; his "other daughter," Angela Scrimalli, Norristown; five grandchildren, Joanne Amendolaro and her husband, Frank Drexler, Michael, Nikki, Victor and Isabella Amendolaro; four great-grandchildren, Devin, Alexa, Giabella and Bentley; two brothers, Joseph "King Joe" Amendolaro and his wife, Annette "Tootsie," Elmhurst, and Vito Amendolaro, Dunmore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine "Kay" Woehrle and Grace Bartos; a brother, James; and a brother in arms and lifelong friend, Angelo Tumbarello.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street in Dunmore. Entombment in Cathedral Cemetery.
