Paul J. Sheehan, Sr., 79, Dunmore, died Thursday night at home surrounded by his loving family. He and his wife, the former Catherine Paskert, celebrated their 59th anniversary the day prior.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Frank and Helen Herman Sheehan, he was a graduate of West Scranton High School. Prior to his retirement, Paul was employed as a Class A machinist at Acker Drill Company for 32 years, where he also served as a union steward, as well as being a member of the International Association of Machinists. His life was centered on his family and friends, and he loved neighborhood gatherings, backyard parties, annual clam bakes, and yearly trips to the beach with his family. Wherever fun was to be had, it was enjoyed as a family. Endless memories and family traditions were born. He lived for his grandchildren and could always be spotted at their sporting events. He will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched.
His family wishes to thank the entire staff of Allied Services Hospice, especially Dan Reilly, RN, for the amazing care and compassion given to both Paul and his family.
Also surviving are sons Paul Sheehan, Jr. and wife, Catherine, of Dunmore; Joseph Sheehan and wife, Gina, of Dunmore; and Patrick Sheehan and wife, Jaime, of Jefferson Township; grandchildren Amanda Sheehan McGuigan and husband, Matthew; Timothy, Ann, Emily, Hannah, Jason, Joshua, and Michaela Sheehan; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael, and brother, Robert.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore. Interment to follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Friends may call Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
