Pauline Marie McKenna, 94, of Dunmore, passed away Tuesday morning at her daughter’s home in Dunmore. She was the widow of John J. McKenna Sr., who passed away in 1981.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Claire Tribolini Capoccia. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore, and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. Prior to retirement, she was a bookkeeper for the former King’s Department Store in Dunmore.
Pauline was an avid sports fan. She loved the New York Yankees, Penn State football and especially going to the Dunmore Bucks games with her niece, Diane. She was also a longtime bowling league member. Pauline was a friend to many. She worked at Knoepfel and Miller and CVS pharmacies for many years – “retiring” at the young age of 84. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughter, Eileen Fortese Reilly and husband, Patrick, Dunmore; son, John J. McKenna Jr. and wife, Kimberly, Jessup; grandchildren, Ryan Fortese and wife, Rose, Jenkintown, Pa.; Brittany Fortese and wife, Lindsey, Dunmore; and Tiffany McKenna, Jessup; great-grandchildren, Nora, Blair, Caroline, Jack and Quinn; sisters, Lilian Dzuris, Dunmore; and Sylvia Mittleman and husband, Daniel, Cherry Hill, N.J.; a brother-in-law, Robert McKenna and wife, Ann, Dunmore; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Capoccia and his wife, Marie; a son-in-law, Sam Fortese; and her mother-in-law, Margaret Ferguson McKenna and her husband, Frank.
The funeral will be Thursday morning from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment, Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.
Friends may call Thursday morning at the funeral home from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
