Pearl (Ostroski) Mecca

Pearl Mecca, 96, of Dunmore, passed away Friday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore. She was the widow of the late Salvatore A. Mecca, Sr. who passed away on August 2, 2002. The couple had been married for 53 years.

Born in Throop, she was the daughter of the late Pearl and Walter Ostroski. She was a graduate of the former Throop High School and was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Dunmore. Prior to retirement, she was a waitress.

Pearl was a devoted and loving mother to her five sons. She never missed a sporting event of theirs or her grandchildren’s. She loved going on cruises and casino visits. She was a member of MAC and the Wednesday Senior Club. She will sadly be missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Surviving are sons, Angelo and wife Mary Lou, Peckville; Salvatore A., Jr. and wife Sharon, Dunmore; Frank L. and wife Sandy, Arkansas; Mark A. and wife Kim, Jessup; and David and wife Joyce, Florida; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Ann Benjamin and husband Robert, Carmel Mecca, and Joan Mecca.

She was also preceded in death by grandsons, Frankie and most recently Charles "Chumly" Mecca; sisters and brothers, Stella, Violet, Jenny, Eleanor, Adolph, and Edward.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore.

Interment, St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Dickson City.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St. in Dunmore.
